Russell Wilson and Ciara are engaged

SEATTLE - Ciara is about to become Seattle's First Lady.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson posted a video on social media Friday afternoon announcing that he's engaged to the pop star, who he's been dating for about a year.

"She said yes!" Wilson said in the video. "I'm making this thing happen!"

Ciara quickly confirmed the engagement.

Ciara's ring is, as you might imagine, exceedingly large and shiny. Reaction on social media was immediate.

Wilson and Ciara famously said they'd decided to practice abstinence until they were married.
"I asked her 'what would you do if we took all that other stuff off the table and did it Jesus' way, no sex?" Wilson said at The Rock Church last year.
 

Wilson was previously married.  Ciara has a son by the her former fiance, the rapper Future.

Ciara has been tweeting photos of her and Wilson in a tropical location this week. Just after the Pro Bowl, Wilson promised her he'd take her anywhere in the world she wanted to go.

Wilson isn't the first Seahawks starter to get engaged recently. Linebacker K.J. Wright proposed to his girlfriend in December, and Doug Baldwin popped the question last week.
