Surprise, surprise: Jermaine Kearse will be back with the Seahawks after all

SEATTLE – It looks like Jermaine Kearse wasn’t quite as excited to leave Seattle as he led everybody to believe.

Multiple media organizations reported that the wide receiver decided to re-sign with the Seahawks on Thursday night after previously saying he was looking forward to a new adventure.

The Seahawks later confirmed in a news release that the team had agreed to terms with Kearse. And they tweeted out a photo of Kearse with this quote from Pete Carroll: “In the big game settings, he just seems to make big plays happen." -

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport report it will be a three-year deal.

A previous report from Schefter said Kearse “does not plan to return to Seattle and is looking forward to finding a new home.”

Kearse has lived much of his life in Washington, playing his high school ball for Lakes and in college for the University of Washington

The Seahawks signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and he's caught 112 passes for 1,599 and 10 touchdowns in four seasons.

In January, Kearse told Schefter that he wouldn't stay in Seattle for a hometown discount.

“I love my hometown, but I’ve put in too much hard work to give a discount," he said at the time. "My number one priority is to take care of my family’s future, so I will consider all opportunities.”
