Woman pleads guilty in juvenile corrections abuse case

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A former Idaho juvenile corrections nurse is facing up to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in a sex abuse case.

The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/1RQb2lL) Valerie Lieteau was three days from trial when she pleaded guilty Friday.

Prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of sexual battery of a minor and two counts of sexual contact with a juvenile inmate.

Attorney Bruce Skaug is representing people who say they were abused at the Nampa center in a civil lawsuit against Lieteau and the Juvenile Corrections Department.

A dozen people have said workers at the center sexually abused them.

The center's superintendent retired, several employees were fired and the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has implemented changes aimed at inmate safety.

Lieteau's sentencing is set for May 31.
