Officials link deadly measles case to tribal health clinic

SEATTLE (AP) — Washington health officials have found the woman who was killed by measles was likely exposed at a Port Angeles tribal health clinic.

The 28-year-old woman with underlying health problems, who died in April, was the first person to die from measles in the U.S. since 2003 and the first measles-related death in the state in 25 years.

The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/1UwhEbA ) that recently released details show nearly three dozen other people were also potentially exposed to the measles virus on Jan. 29, 2015, at the Lower Elwha Health Clinic by a 52-year-old man who became the first case of measles confirmed in Clallam County in two decades.

Officials with the Elwha clinic did not respond to questions about the exposure.
