WSP believes driver inattention led to woman hitting motorcycle trooper on I-5 this morning

FEDERAL WAY – The Washington State Patrol believes a 28-year-old woman was distracted when she ran into a trooper who was on the side of I-5 on Wednesday morning.

Greg Ulrich injured his leg and back but was conscious and alert while being transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Troopers said Ulrich was hit in the back of his body while contacting a driver on the side of the road at the exit for 272nd on northbound I-5.

They said it appears driver inattention was a factor, but that the woman didn’t seem to be impaired.

Ulrich is a 25-year WSP veteran who works in the King County motorcycle unit.
