Man, 85, convicted of child sex crimes

TRI-CITIES, Wash. (AP) — An 85-year-old Finley man has been found guilty of charges relating to the sexual abuse of a young girl.

The Tri-City Herald reports ( ) that Eugene Lester Standfill was convicted Tuesday of five sex crimes, including child molestation and rape of a child.

He’s accused of sexually abusing the girl and taking sexually explicit photos of her for at least a decade. Authorities were alerted to the alleged abuse after the victim reported it to a friend in 2014.

Standfill has been out of custody since posting $50,000 bail in December 2014.

His sentencing has been set for April 7.
