Police investigating possible car pedestrian fatality in Burlington
BURLINGTON - Police are trying to determine how a man's body ended up on State Route 99 near North Hill Boulevard, in Skagit county. Skagit County Sheriff's Deputy Tom Molitor said that they got a report of the man's body on the highway around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The body was discovered just few feet north of the Burlington city limit, Molitor said. The victim appears to be a man in his 20s.
Because Interstate 5 and SR 99 are so close at that location, and the body was found about 30 feet from I - 5, deputies are unsure on which road the man may have been hit.
Police are treating this investigation as a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality accident, Molitor said.
The Skagit County Medical Examiner's office has not released the name of the victim or cause of death.
