SEATTLE -- Officers are investigating a shooting reported on a King County Metro bus in the Sodo neighborhood.

Police said a 22-year-old man was shot around 10 a.m. Wednesday near 4th Ave S & S Holgate St.

Bus riders say they didn’t hear any type of argument or yelling before the shooting.

“I just heard the shot and everyone started scrambling to get off the bus,” said Joe Armstrong, who was sitting at the back of the bus when the shooting happened.

Police say it appears the two suspects targeted the victim but they didn’t know why.

“I think they knew who they were going after. Just the way they were looking and how they went in to the back and then went to the front where the victim was sitting,” said David Taylor who was on the bus at the time of the shooting.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Metro Transit Police said bus riders should still feel safe riding the bus, “Security is very important to metro Transit. Nearly half of the metro transit busses are equipped with cameras,” said Dave Jutilla, a Major with the Metro Transit Police.

Detectives said they arrested the suspected gunman, but police were searching for a second man reportedly involved in the incident. That person was described as a Hispanic males in his late teens or early 20s, last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, dark jeans and a bandana over his face.

The victim was taken in serious condition to Harborview Medical Center.

King County Sheriff's deputies were assisting Seattle police in the investigation.
