Flames destroy RV, damage nearby Renton gas station

RENTON, Wash. -- Investigators are trying to figure out what started an RV fire that spread to a nearby gas station.

Eastside firefighters surrounded the Shell gas station located at SE Renton Issaquah Road and 163 Ave SE around 3:30 Wednesday morning.

Deputy Chief Richard Burke said flames were shooting from the RV parked behind the building. The fire then spread to the food mart.

“Our first arriving units could actually see the fire from a pretty good distance,” said Burke. “As the fire progressed on the backside it also extended into the structure.”

Deputies blocked off the roadway in front of the gas station. Burke said it appears someone lived in the RV. As of now, there are no reports of any injuries.
