OLYMPIA, Wash. — A man with an unusual name was arrested Sunday for allegedly attacking an Evergreen State College police officer and a Thurston County sheriff’s deputy.
According to The Olympian, a Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop appeared in court Monday on charges of 1st degree assault, 3rd degree assault and 3rd degree malicious mischief.
Authorities said Zopittybop-bop-bop was tearing down posters outside of a school library. When they confronted him, he allegedly bit an officer, tried to stab him with a pen and reached for the officer’s gun.
Court documents say the suspect grabbed a handcuff case, then “swung it like a hammer” causing a laceration on the officer’s head.
Documents say the officer punched the suspect in the jaw, but the strike didn’t help subdue Zopittybop-bop-bop. the officer used a stun gun on the man twice to bring him down.
But the suspect jumped up and ran off. A sheriff’s deputy saw the suspect running along Evergreen Parkway and chased him into a wooded area. Documents say the suspect threw rocks at the officer who used his stun gun, but Zopittybop-bop-bop broke the electrical lines and kept running.
Authorities say a third officer joined the chase, eventually stunning the suspect. He was tackled, handcuffed and arrested before being taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Zopittybop-bop-bop, who was born Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, was previously arrested in 2012 on marijuana and weapon charges, and in 2013 on drug charges.
His bail was set at $50,000.
