EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Everett police are investigating to see whether other children may have been mistreated in connection to the death of a 3-month old girl.
The infant died in December. She suffered a broken arm, broken ribs, a black eye, pneumonia and meningitis, and authorities say she tested positive for methamphetamine before her death.
The Daily Herald reports that police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office have served multiple search warrants in the case, seizing video recording equipment, cellphones, computers and multiple BB guns.
The girl’s 19-year-old mother, Jerrica Schreib and her 42-year-old boyfriend Donald Coons have denied wrongdoing. They were jailed for criminal mistreatment, but released after prosecutors declined to refile the charges.
Coons has three daughters, ages 11, 13, and 14.
