Body pulled from Spokane River believed to be missing VA doctor

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A body pulled from the Spokane River is believed to be that of missing Veterans Affairs hospital surgeon Dr. John Marshall.

Marshall went missing Monday morning and was believed to be jogging in the area.

The Spokesman-Review says a passer-by found a body Tuesday morning floating in the river.

Interim Spokane police Chief Rick Dobrow says the man's clothing matched what Marshall was wearing when he left the YMCA to go for his early morning run.

Police are investigating the death as suspicious.
