1 dead after shooting, fire at Bellevue apartment complex

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- One person died after a shooting and fire at a Bellevue apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

Officers were called around 2:15 a.m. to the Meydenbauer Apartments after several reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they noticed smoke coming from one of the apartments. Bellevue police say officers dragged one man out of the apartment, but he did not survive.

Bellevue firefighters responded and put out the fire.

Investigators say there does not appear to be a danger to the community.

One police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. Nobody else was injured.

Residents of about 50 apartments were displaced overnight during the investigation.
