Homicide detectives investigating after 2 people found dead in Belltown apartment

SEATTLE -- Homicide detectives are investigating after two people were found dead in a Belltown apartment complex, Seattle police said Monday.

Officers responded to the Bell Tower apartment complex in the 2200 block of 1st Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Monday on a request to “check the welfare” of the tenant, police said. Officers received no answer upon knocking at the door and were provided entry into the studio apartment by building maintenance.

Once inside the apartment, the officers discovered the two people dead on the ground. The homicide unit has taken responsibility of the investigation.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the bodies and will determine cause of death.
