Authorities say handcuffed woman stole a patrol car

PENDLETON, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a woman in handcuffs stole a sheriff's office patrol car during a traffic stop northeast of Indianapolis.

A Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy spotted a car Friday night that was reported stolen and followed it to a McDonald's in the town of Pendleton while waiting for backup.

One of the car's passengers was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car. As deputies continued to investigate, the handcuffed woman was able to drive off in the patrol car.

The sheriff's office says she crashed the car in Henry County and fled on foot. K9 officers are trying to track her.

No weapons were taken from the patrol car, and the woman is not believed to be armed.
