SNOHOMISH COUNTY - The body of a woman has been found in a burned out home in rural Snohomish County. Investigators have not positively identified her yet, but say the fire may have been set intentionally by her son.  They believe he may have also stabbed his mother and his father, before setting fire to the house.

“I just can’t believe it,” says Nicole Tilton.

She’s in shock to find out her neighbor could be responsible for the deadly fire at a Snohomish County home late last night. She’d heard that the couple that lived there had been stabbed, but she didn’t realize it was their son who had moved in next door to her in Redmond.

“It’s just been very recent,” she says. “He’s nice and cordial, has done yard work when not asked. Just sweet, a nice guy.”

The 29 year old’s roommates did not want to talk to Q13 News tonight. But we’ve learned that there was a 9-1-1 call at this home just this week.

“The fire department and paramedics were here not last night, but the night before,” says Tilton.

Then last night, there was another 9-1-1 call. But this time, sheriffs were being alerted to a domestic disturbance at the home of the man’s parents.

“There was some altercation and he’s alleged to have stabbed both of them,” says Shari Ireton, with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

She says by the time deputies could respond, the home was already engulfed in flames.

“We looked out our side yard and saw a wall of fire and explosion after explosion after explosion,” says neighbor Melissa Frey.

The 29 year old and his father were taken to the hospital, where both are listed in satisfactory condition tonight. After the fire was extinguished, investigators found the body of an adult woman in the rubble. The medical examiner will determine if it was the man’s mother. Friends of the family don’t know why this might have happened, but say it’s a tragedy.

“She’s awesome, she’s wonderful, had a heart of gold,” says Frey. “She would do anything for anybody, and her husband is quiet, nice sweet guy. Both their sons are adorable. I don’t know what to say. I’m shocked, absolutely shocked.”

The investigation continues. The son has not been charged with any crimes yet.
