So close! 12 big Powerball tickets sold in Washington, including two for $1 million

SEATTLE – No, nobody joined Bill Gates and Paul Allen as a Washington billionaire on Wednesday.

But 12 people in the state did make a bunch of money in the Powerball drawing – including two who won $1 million.

Powerball officials said 12 second- and third-tier tickets were sold in Washington, worth a total of $2,650,000.

Two of those were worth $1 million. One was sold in Woodinville at Turner’s Corner Handy Mart, and the other was sold to a Kirkland player whose ticket was bought at a 7-Eleven on Nickerston St. in Seattle.

There were also three $100,000 tickets and seven $50,000 tickets sold.

The big prize of $1.5 billion was split between three winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.
