Drunk Vikings fan mistakenly breaks into police station after Sunday's loss, cops say

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota Vikings fan broke into the State Fair police department after Sunday's playoff loss to Seattle, apparently thinking it was his own home.

Police spokeswoman Brooke Blakey tells the Star Tribune the 30-year-old man was tailgating at the fairgrounds before he entered the station, which resembles a house.

Blakey says the fan, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, went in and thought he was at home.

Patrol officers responded at about 4 p.m. to a possible burglary at the substation in St. Paul. The tailgater was arrested, booked into the Ramsey County jail and released.

Trespassing charges are pending.

The Vikings lost 10-9 to Seattle when Blair Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal try in Sunday's wild-card playoff game at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
