Rockslide blocks Highway 2 near Waterville (PHOTOS)

WATERVILLE, Wash. -- U.S. Highway 2 remained closed Monday after a rockslide covered the road a day earlier.

WSDOT officials said the slide happened Sunday at milepost 142, just west of Waterville in Douglas County.

US 2 is closed from milepost 140 just east of Orondo to milepost 149.

WSP Trooper Darren Wright said authorities did not believe any vehicles were involved.

Crews said it may take several days to clear the slide and reopen the highway. Officials say long detour options are SR 17 & SR 28.
