Police: Everett couple arrested in death of baby girl who had broken ribs and arm, black eye, viruses

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 3-month-old girl.

The Daily Herald reports (http://goo.gl/Y1pD23 ) 19-year-old Jerrica Schreib and her boyfriend, 42-year-old Donald Coons, were arrested Friday in Everett.

Both are under investigation for criminal mistreatment of a child. Bail was set at $500,000 each.

Schreib reportedly called 911 on Dec. 18, saying the baby apparently had suffered an allergic reaction and became unresponsive at a hotel where the woman, Coons and three other children were staying.

Court documents say the baby had a broken arm, ribs, a black eye, pneumonia and meningitis. She died at the hospital, documents say.

Coons' attorney, Tom Cox, said his client has had no criminal convictions since 2004, while Schreib's attorney said she had no criminal history.

The three older children are in state custody.
