Woman arrested for assaulting husband who wouldn't stop farting in bed, police say

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Florida woman faces a battery charge for allegedly assaulting her husband who wouldn't stop passing gas in bed.

According to WPTV, officers responded to a domestic batter call at a home in Port St. Lucie around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 11.

In a police report, the officer said a man at the home was lying in bed with his wife when he passed gas. That's when his wife, 55-year-old Dawn Meikle, allegedly began elbowing and kicking him.

Police said during the fight, he suffered 6 to 8 inch scratches across his chest, and his shirt was ripped in three places.

According to the report, he told police that he started restraining his wife for his own safety, but her lip "was inadvertently split open."

She confirmed her husband's statement and admitted to elbowing and punching him, police said.

Meikle was booked into St. Lucie County Jail and charged with domestic battery.
