Shoreline student arrested for threats at high school

SHORELINE, Wash - Police arrested a Shorewood High School student after school officials found out that the student was reportedly planning to "shoot up the school."

The 17-year old boy was arrested Thursday night after officials were alerted by a parent who said there were rumors circulating about a student planning a shooting at the school, police said.

Shoreline police investigated the threats and learned that the student told other students "not to go to school tomorrow" because he planned on "shooting up the school..." police reported.

Police arrested the teen at his job in Lynnwood Thursday night.

Investigators are not revealing more about the case but praise school officials, students and the parents who called in the threats.

"This is exactly what we tell people to do," said King County Sheriff John Urquhart.  "If you see or hear something, say something."

The teen was booked into the Youth Service Center for Investigation of Felony Threats, a press release from the Sheriff's office reported.
