Winter Storm Warning means 1-2 feet of snow in the Cascades in just 24 hours

SEATTLE -- A really soggy day today around Western Washington.

Expect a LOT of snow in the Cascades where there’s a WINTER STORM WARNING until 7am on Friday. Cascades could see 12-24″ of snow with this storm.

Central Washington is also under a WINTER STORM WARNING with several inches of snow today and 2-5″ tonight. This could make for some hazardous travel on I-90.

High temps in the lowlands will be in the seasonal mid-40s.

Friday we’ll see some heavy on/off showers – mostly in the morning.

Saturday is looking mostly dry with just a chance for some showers in the afternoon.

Sunday looks like we’ll see some wet and breezy conditions. Our mountain passes will see a lot of weekend snow.

The Winter Solstice is Monday evening at 8:49. We start gaining a few minutes of daylight after that.

A very early look at the Christmas holiday: the Puget Sound looks rainy with highs near 40.
