Presents pile up for 'miracle baby' who made national news

TAVARES, Fla. (AP) — A Florida couple says presents have piled up for their year-old son whose Christmas card with Santa became an Internet sensation.

Jaxon Buell first had a small following of family and well-wishers on the Facebook page his parents set up shortly after he was born Aug. 27, 2014. He has a rare condition that prevented much of his brain from forming and left half his skull flat.

Tens of thousands of people have liked the "Jaxon Strong" page now, after the baby made national news while being treated at a Boston hospital.

A Christmas card showing Jaxon leaning into Santa's ear garnered more gifts and donations for the boy and his parents. His mother tells the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1PnHlXS ) that presents arrive daily at the family's Tavares home.

A baby boy who was born with part of his skull missing has met Santa Claus for the first time in a series of adorable photos.

Jaxon Buell, whose incredible story was shared with the #JaxonStrong hashtag, was pictured snuggling Santa.

In one of the images shared to Facebook, the little boy, who was wearing a "Kiss Me" t-shirt, got a peck from Santa.

Jaxon, who is missing a large part of his brain and skull, also posed for another set of photos as his family thanked his supporters on a giant Christmas card.

The 1-year-old was first diagnosed with Spina Bifida, then other developmental issues. Doctors eventually diagnosed him with Microhydranencephaly, a severe brain development abnormality.

“Jaxon has already shown how strong, smart, and special he is, accomplishing feats that doctors doubted he’d ever be able to do, shows improvements each and every day, and just reached a miraculous milestone in celebrating his 1st birthday,” according to the Jaxon Strong Facebook page.
