Central coast braces for more winds, high tides, minor flooding

ABERDEEN, Wash. -- The National Weather Service is monitoring several weather patterns along the Washington coast, which are expected to bring more rainfall, high winds and increased tidal levels through the weekend.

A high wind warning has been issued for Grays Harbor County until 10 p.m. Saturday night. Wind gusts could hit 60 mph.

The Chehalis River is still above flood stage, so the threat of minor flooding is a possibility throughout the region. However, the water is receding and the river is expected to fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday, impacting the towns of Aberdeen, Westport and Ocean Shores.

High tides could reach 1-2 feet above predicted levels.

Earlier this week, ocean swells reached 30' in some areas.

 

Sandbags will be available for all residents at the Brady Fire Station and all Grays Harbor County Road Shops between 8 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. daily.

Grays Harbor County Emergency Management asks all residents to prepare for the possibility of power outages, as high winds and saturated soil often lead to fallen trees.
