Skull found in Snohomish County identified as woman reported missing in 2006

GOLD BAR, Wash. -- The Snohomish County Medical Examiner says a skull found last month belongs to a woman reported missing back in 2006.

Sandy L. Rideout, of Ferndale, was reported as a missing person in Whatcom County. She was last seen in Bellingham, but was often in the Seattle area.

The remains were discovered by a logger on Nov. 25 while marking trees in privately owned timber land about five miles west of SR 2 between Index and Gold Bar.

No other remains or evidence was found at the site. The cause and manner of death remains under investigation.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate with the help of the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office and the Seattle Police Department's Missing Persons Unit.
