Police officer, civilian wounded in Wisconsin shooting
NEENAH, Wis. — A police officer and another person have been hurt in a shooting at a motorcycle shop in a Wisconsin town that prompted an evacuation.
WITI-TV reports shots were reported at Eagle Nation Cycles on Neenah’s Main Street shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert says an estimated 30 shots were fired. He called the shooting “every community’s nightmare.”
Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson says the injured officer is expected to recover. Wilkinson says authorities believe everyone is accounted for and there is “no threat to the community.”
Hospital spokeswoman Megan Mulholland confirms that a victim was taken to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. She did not know the person’s condition.
WLUK-TV reports that two people are in custody.
Neenah is about 85 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
