Clean Air Agency asking residents to reduce burning

OLYMPIA, Wash - The stagnant, cold air that's covered the Puget Sound this week has increased the risk of air pollution, the Olympia Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) reported.

The agency is asking residents to reduce outdoor burning, in hopes of having to avoid to call an official burn ban, the Olympian newspaper reported.

Curbing outdoor burning will allow homeowners to continue to use woodstoves to stay warm over the long holiday weekend.

ORCAA is asking residents to use alternative means of disposal, such as composting and chipping, the paper reported.
