Trouble in Toyland: List of dangerous toys on store shelves

SEATTLE —The 30th annual Trouble in Toyland report was released Tuesday. It showed there are dangerous and toxic toys on our store shelves.

The report revealed the results of laboratory testing on toys for toxic chemicals. The survey also found examples of toys that pose a choking hazard, extremely loud toys that can threaten children’s hearing and powerful toy magnets that can cause serious injury if swallowed.

The Fun Bubbles jump rope made the list and was deemed toxic for having 10 times the legal limit of a banned chemical. The report found that a fairy wand was not labeled as a choking hazard, but had small parts that easily broke off. There were also inadequate choking hazard labels on the Disney Pixar Cars Riplash Races.

The report found that balloons remained the most serious choking hazard to children.
