Early morning standoff ends with arrest in South Seattle

SEATTLE -- A man had a stand-off with SWAT officers while a toddler was inside his apartment, police said Saturday.

Seattle Police were called to an apartment complex on 37th Avenue South around 6 a.m Saturday morning.

When officers got to the scene, they found a woman, who told police she had been sexually assaulted by a man inside the apartment.

She told police a two-year-old child was also inside.

The 28-year-old man refused to leave, so officers called in negotiators and a SWAT team to assist while a search warrant was obtained.

Around 8 a.m. the suspect surrendered and was arrested without incident.

Fortunately, detectives said the child was unharmed.

The suspect is booked on Investigation of Rape charges.
