Stevens Pass ski area needs more snow to open

STEVENS PASS - More snow is needed at Stevens Pass for the resort to open for ski season. The resort was hoping to open the slopes on November 20th, but the recent snowfall wasn't enough, Alisa Hetze with Stevens Pass told Q13Fox News.

Stevens Pass needs at least a two foot snow base to open, Hetze said.

US 2 is currently closed east of Skykomish due to storm damage to a bridge near milepost 54.

WSDOT just tweeted that US may be closed through the weekend.

Heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused significant erosion under a bridge foundation on US 2, the Washington State Department of Transportion (WSDOT)

WSDOT closed US 2 eastbound & westbound at Skykomish (MP 49) to Deception Falls (MP 59). Currently there is no estimated time of reopening. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.

Bridge engineers are out at the bridge site near Skykomish on Thursday, assessing the damage, WSDOT said.

Stevens Pass is open for employees to get to work, if they're coming from the West side, Hetze said. Drivers have to take Interstate 90 east to Blewett Pass, and then US 2 to the ski resort.
