Police investigating 5 suspicious fires in one night in Auburn; residents taking action

AUBURN, Wash. -- Just hours after hosting a meeting with concerned residents about 11 arsons in their community, Auburn Police say someone possibly set five new fires in one neighborhood Thursday morning.

Investigators say the fires were near the 1200 block of 30th Street NE. Authorities say one was in a garage of an empty home. Another fire was in a carport nearby. Police say three people living nearby discovered the inside of the vehicles were set on fire.

Trisha Wolfe is a single mother of three small children. Her van is in bad shape after a fire melted much of the interior.

Wolfe said, "All their car seats, everything is ruined. And I have to take care of them by myself so. It’s too bad."

Eric Blaser got into his car for his daily coffee run and found ashes inside his vehicle. He hopes the suspected arsonist is caught soon.

"Eventually everyone gets caught," Blaser said. "Im just hoping that during the interim there's no more loss of property, or God forbid, life."

Authorities will host a meeting about the arsons Tuesday, November 24, at 6 pm. in the Pioneer Elementary School gym. The school is located at 2301 M St. SE.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
