102-year-old makes blankets for local children's charities

SEATTLE—A 102-year-old woman spends her time at her senior home volunteering for children and teenagers in need. She makes blankets to donate to local children’s organizations like Child Haven and Wellspring Family Services.

“It's a good thing for the children and it's a good thing for us because it keeps our minds and our hands busy and that really is important. As long as you just sit and have something important to do. Especially when it's worthwhile, that makes it really nice,” said Margaret Hardin, who lives at Aegis on Madison in Seattle.

Hardin and her friends donated five bags of blankets on Thursday.

Hardin said any extra fabric would be used to make small quilts and scarves.
