Seattle man accused of killing 4 convicted in armed-robbery case in New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A Seattle man accused of killing four people in two states in a fit of rage over the U.S. government’s role in the Middle East has been convicted in New Jersey of unrelated armed-robbery charges.

Acting Essex County prosecutor Carolyn Murray says Ali Muhammad Brown was convicted Tuesday of robbery and weapons offenses after a two-week trial. She says Brown stole a man’s wallet in West Orange in July 2014, about two weeks after he killed a college student.

Brown is charged with terrorism, murder and related offenses in the fatal shooting of a University of Richmond student at a traffic light in West Orange in June 2014. He also is charged with killing three men in Seattle.

He refused to leave his jail cell to participate in his defense.
