Teenage driver arrested after fatal high-speed rollover crash near Monroe

MONROE, Wash. -- Police are investigating a deadly crash overnight that left one teenager dead and several others injured.

Troopers were called just before midnight to Highway 2 near Sofie Road -- east of Monroe.

According to WSP, a Volkswagen Jetta was driving east at more than 100 mph when the car hit a guard rail and vaulted over the road -- rolling and tumbling.

The four passengers were all ejected from the car. A 17-year-old Sultan girl was killed and three other passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to Colby Hospital.

The 18-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries. Troopers said he was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. They are investigating whether drugs may have been a factor.
