Father gets 20 years in prison for injecting 4-year-old son with heroin

SEATTLE (AP) — A Redmond man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for injecting his 4-year-old son with heroin, ketamine and other drugs.

The Seattle Times reports (http://goo.gl/qbLyxr ) 39-year-old Eric Lehtinen received the high-end sentence for an attempted first-degree murder conviction.

Court documents say that Lehtinen's estranged wife agreed to let their son stay the night with his father on Sept. 23, 2013, believing Lehtinen's claims that he had stop using and dealing drugs.

The boy's mother entered the home the following day and found the father and son unresponsive in bed.

They were both treated for an overdose. Doctors said the boy had several puncture wounds from needles on his neck and buttocks.

Lehtinen apologized in court to his parents and others but not to his ex-wife or son.

Judge Mary Roberts ordered him to have no contact with them for life.
