20 birds recovering after exposure to oil spill in White Center pond

WHITE CENTER - At least 20 birds were covered in an oily substance at a retention pond in White Center on Saturday.

The birds came in contact with an estimated 20 to 50 gallons of what is believed to be cooking oil, the King County Department of Natural Resources said.

A crew trained in cleaning wildlife responded and captured and cleaned the oily birds, the KC Dept of Natural Resouces reported.
