Camas officials approve ban on recreational pot stores

CAMAS, Wash. (AP) — Camas officials have approved a ban on recreational marijuana businesses in city limits.

The Columbian reports the City Council voted Monday in favor of the ban on recreational marijuana stores. A moratorium on retail pot stores has been in place since October 2014 and was set to expire next month.

Mayor Scott Higgins says the majority of people who testified at Monday's meeting were in favor of the ban.

Growing and processing marijuana businesses are already banned in the city. If the ban were to be lifted, only one recreational marijuana store would be allowed in Camas under current Liquor and Cannabis Board rules.

Vancouver and Battle Ground are the only Clark County cities to allow recreational pot stores.
