Teacher Appreciation Day: Kindergartners tell us why their teacher is special

EVERETT -- This year, we honored one local teacher every day for Teacher Appreciation Week back in May, all based on your nominations. We enjoyed it so much, we decided we don't need to wait for a national holiday to do it ourselves! So, as part of Q13 Salutes, every so often we are doing our own Teacher Appreciation Day, taking your nominations of local teachers making a difference, and surprising them in their classrooms with a gift and the recognition they all deserve.

Today, we honored Mrs. Davis, a kindergarten teacher at Northshore Christian Academy in Everett.  Watch the video below to see what happened the moment we surprised her, mid-class, during our morning show! What do her students think? Check out the video at the top of this story to find out- we met some very precocious kindergartners!

Mary Hodge nominated Mrs. Davis, calling her "creative, patient and loving... She takes the time to connect with (my son) and finds creative strategies to help him succeed."

Congratulations, Mrs. Davis! In addition to recognizing her this morning on our show, we also had a treat: Gene Juarez Salons & Spas provided her with a gift bag, complete with a $100 gift card to pamper herself!

Keep watching our Q13 FOX News Facebook page for the next time we ask for your nominations for favorite local teachers. We'll be honoring another one very soon on Q13 FOX News This Morning! Thank you to everyone who has nominated teachers so far. We wish we could do something for every single teacher!
