Mother killed, son injured after car hit by suspected DUI driver, troopers say



BURIEN, Wash. -- A mother was killed and her young son injured after their car was hit by a driver suspected of DUI.

The crash happened Saturday afternoon on eastbound SR 518 just east of SR 509 in Burien.

The Washington State Patrol says the driver of the car that was hit, a 41-year-old SeaTac woman, died at the scene.

A 10-year-old who was in the car was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was released a day later.

Troopers suspect the other driver may have gone through a red light. The 20-year-old Kent man was not hurt.

He was arrested and booked into King County Jail on suspicion of DUI, and investigation of vehicular homicide/assault.
