Sheriff: 13-year-old robs ice cream shop at knifepoint

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Police say have arrested a 13-year-old boy accused of robbing a Baskin-Robbins at knifepoint.

Marion County Sheriff's deputies say they were called Thursday evening on reports of a robbery in which an employee was threatened at a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Salem.

A few hours later, authorities say they got a call from the parents of the 13-year-old who had confessed to the robbery.

The boy was taken to a juvenile detention center on robbery, menacing and theft charges. Deputies recovered the $148 in cash that had been stolen from the business.
