Seahawks RB Fred Jackson crashes car near practice facility in Renton

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks running back Fred Jackson was involved in a car crash Tuesday near the team's practice facility in Renton, according to police.

Renton police said at 4:40 p.m., Jackson lost control of his 2016 Chevy Corvette while driving southbound on Seahawks Way. The car struck a stop sign and came to rest on the north side of Lake Washington Blvd.

Jackson was not injured, but he was taken to the VMAC for an evaluation by team personnel. The car sustained moderate front end damage.

Photos appeared to show Marshawn Lynch at the scene with Fred Jackson.

Renton police said earlier media reports claiming Jackson was drag racing another player were false. Investigators said there was no indication that Jackson was racing.

Jackson remained at the scene until officers could speak with him. They said he was fully cooperative.

He later tweeted thanking his teammates for their support.

The team has not yet commented on what happened.
