President of Ireland to visit Seattle and its suburbs

SEATTLE (AP) — Another president will be visiting Seattle soon. The president of Ireland is scheduled to be in Seattle and its suburbs next week.

The Seattle Times reports Michael Higgins will meet with Mayor Ed Murray on Wednesday. On Thursday he will tour Sammamish’s Skyline High School, where Gaelic football is played.

The mayor says the Irish president will spend time at Microsoft’s Redmond campus and will be greeted by members of Seattle’s Irish community at McCaw Hall.

He is scheduled to give a speech Friday at the University of Washington about the role of technology in sustainable development. T

After leaving Seattle on Saturday, he is scheduled to travel to San Francisco, Sacramento and Berkeley, California.
