17-year-old son killed, father seriously injured in drive-by shooting at Auburn bus stop

AUBURN, Wash. -- A 17-year-old boy was killed and his 41-year-old father seriously injured  in a drive-by shooting at a bus stop in Auburn Tuesday, police said.

Police say someone opened fire from a vehicle at the man and his two sons as they sat at the bus stop in a residential neighborhood at 17th Street Southeast and B Street Southeast.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired.

"I was reading in my living room and I heard five or six pops, kind of pop, pop, and I heard a car race by, and to me it just sounded like fireworks to me," said Tom Burrill, who lives near the scene.

The injured man was taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A Harborview nursing supervisor said the father was in very critical condition.

The second son was not injured.

Kari and James Frazier said the family had been visiting them and had just left the house when a gunman opened fire.

"They were here visiting and getting ready to hop a bus home; the kids and father ran up ahead and the mother was here saying her goodbyes when we heard gunshots," said James Frazier.

Frazier's wife, Kari, said the younger brother witnessed the shooting and had to run for his life.

Police are investigating and searching for suspects. On Wednesday, investigators in Auburn found a dark colored Acura they believe is connected to the shooting. The car had blood on it, officials said.

They say they don't know if the victims and shooter or shooters know each other.

Police spokesman Steve Stocker said police are looking for a black or dark green Acura.
