Third degree child rape charge for volunteer firefighter after alleged sex with teen in firehouse

RAVENSDALE -- A 22-year-old volunteer firefighter is charged with third-degree child rape of a 15-year-old girl for an incident occurring while the two stayed the night at a fire station, prosecutors say.

Zachary Cadiente is charged in King County Superior Court. Cadiente is currently out of jail under his own personal recognizance.

Over the summer, Cadiente grew closer with a 15-year-of family friend who he has known for a long time, court documents show. On August 24, the girl sneaked out of her house around 2:30 a.m. to play video games with Cadiente at the Ravensdale Fire Station in the 27000 block of SE Kent-Kangley Road.

Cadiente is the sole occupant of the fire station, documents show, and he welcomed the girl in the building. After a while, documents show, the two grew tired of playing video games and went to rest in Cadiente's bed. There, the volunteer firefighter allegedly removed her clothes and prosecutors say the girl asked if he "used protection."

Following the incident, Cadiente drove the girl back to her house. The next day, he allegedly texted her to say "I am sorry about what happened the other night," documents show.

The girl provided a sworn statement to a detective, and the King County Sheriff's Office contacted Cadiente. He requested a lawyer.

Cadiente has no criminal history.
