Lacey teen faces 14 charges for shooting gun in high school in April

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A 17-year-old boy accused of firing a gun inside North Thurston High School in April now faces 14 charges — 12 felonies and two misdemeanors.

The Olympian reports the teen pleaded not guilty to a new set of charges in Thurston County Juvenile Court on Wednesday. He originally faced five charges.

Authorities say he fired a handgun twice inside the high school on April 27 before a teacher tackled him. No one was injured in the incident.

Earlier this month, Thurston County prosecutor Wayne Graham withdrew a motion asking that the teen be tried in adult court. Graham says he made the decision based on a psychologist's evaluation of the teen.

He is scheduled to appear in court again next Wednesday. He is being held at a juvenile detention center.

Q13 FOX News previously learned the suspect was already on probation after pleading guilty last November in King County to charges of groping two female students at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines. He had just recently transferred to North Thurston High.
