Vandal tries kicking his way into Kent dance studio, causes big damage

KENT, Wash. -- The owner of Allegro Performing Arts Academy is still cleaning up shattered glass after a vandal tried kicking his way into the dance studio over the weekend.

Nobody was working at the studio at the time but security cameras got a good shot of the suspect’s face.

“I think he was not right in his mind,” said studio owner Tonya Goodwillie.

The suspect somehow missed the surveillance camera directly over his head as he spent more than 15 minutes trying to kick through the door.

On Sunday morning Goodwillie and her staff found a giant hole in the wall and one of the glass doors shattered.

“He kicked the window in here and he kicked this window, broke that window, you can see the cracks going all the up,” said Goodwillie.

A quick search of the security system found a man wobbling around the front of the store waiting for the right moment to kick his foot back into the glass.

Besides the damage dance instructors said the vandal’s form was awful.

“He could probably use a few lessons,” laughed Goodwillie. “Just kidding.”

Goodwilllie posted screen grabs of the suspect and shared them online hoping someone can recognize him. But now she has to explain to her dance students that they will still be safe at class.

“This is a home away from home for so many families and children,” she said. “We all feel violated and we all feel hurt.”

Thankfully the crook never got inside the business but Goodwillie estimates the damage at around $2,000.

If anyone recognizes the suspect, Goodwillie asks people call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
