Load of manure spilled as truck driver tries to beat train near Yakima

MABTON, Wash. (AP) — Officials say a truck driver spilled his load of manure but escaped injury after his vehicle collided with a train southeast of Yakima.

Yakima County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Bill Splawn said in a news release a man driving semi-trailer Monday morning attempted to beat a train in Mabton.

The train reportedly hit the truck, causing the trailer to become dislodged and spill the load of manure onto the road.

Law enforcement officials cited the truck driver for failing to yield at a railroad crossing.

The truck was badly damaged and the trailer destroyed.
