Farmers help friend with terminal cancer by harvesting hundreds of acres in one day

GALVA, Ill. -- Neighbors rallied to help a farmer in central Illinois who is battling aggressive cancer.

Carl Bates is in hospice care.

His family was worried that his crops would not be harvested, so they used social media and word of mouth to find volunteers.

Local businesses in Galva, Ill., also donated meals for the workers last Friday.

In just 10 hours volunteers cleared 450 acres, a project that would normally take a week.

Carl also showed up to thank everyone for their hard work.
