Pot bike tours to start in Portland October 1st

Portland, OR (KPTV) -- As recreational marijuana goes on sale in Oregon for the first time Thursday, the new law is allowing for new and unique business.

A "Portland Pot" bicycle tour, for instance.

Pedal Bike Tours on SW 2nd Avenue is launching the inaugural tour Thursday afternoon. It could be a daily venture, depending on demand, and like the many other tours offered through the company, will run customers $69.

That includes the bike, helmet, guided tour – and a free joint to take home.

"We're going to go to two dispensaries, we're going to go to two head shops and we're going to two places that have something to eat," owner Todd Roll told Fox 12's Kelsey Watts. "It's really just an opportunity to have some fun."

Customers will be able to buy marijuana at stops on the tour, but smoking it on the ride is prohibited, per Oregon law.

Several pot-themed Portland t-shirts are also on sale inside the shop that garners most of its business from tourists.

"It really compliments some of our other tours, like our wine country tour, and our brewery trail tour," Roll added. "It's really just an opportunity to have some fun, ride around the inner-city area and see some of the neat, new places that are opening."
